The Tholos restoration from W The reconstruction partially completed in 1938 is still standing. The drums that made up the column shafts were broken into many pieces and were so precisely made that an architect had to be called to solve the puzzle. It turned out that five blocks were needed rather then the usual four, which made the columns more slender and graceful then others of the Doric order dating from the 5th century BCE or even the 4th century BCE. |
