Perseus, the hero of Argolis, makes off towards the left, his head turned to look at the decapitated body of the Gorgon which sinks to the ground behind him. In his left hand he carries the "harpe" with which he has just killed her while in a wallet round his neck he bears her severed head. The Goddess Athena follows behind him.
